We have a twelve week old boy labrador. He is great fun and very loving but when he is overexcited has a tendency to turn and bite or jump and bite. I am trying to train this tendency out of him by shaking him by the collar or holding down if he is very naughty which seems to be working as he licks me afterwards but he still does it. I was wondering how long it takes to train this sort of behaviour out of a dog as I have not owned a labrador before. He mostly stops and licks you after he is told off but last night my son shook him perhaps not strongly enough and he turned and put his teeth through his new pyjamas scraping his arm.
