I am interested in acquiring a labrador bitch, but am looking for one which is about 18 months old. Is there anyone who can help me to find one? Would preferably like a black labrador, but am flexible in that regard. This will be the first time I have owned a dog.

would it matter if it was speyed ? and would it matter if there where no papers ?

No that wouldn't make a difference to me. I am not intending to breed the dog, I just want her for company. Do you know of any bitches who are available at the moment?

what area are you in, ive got freinds with labs and i'll ask for you, but where are you, have you tried lab rescue, they might have something there needing a good permanent home, its worth checking

I am living in the Teesside area and have been checking recently for rescue labs, but they don't appear very often in this area.

ive written to a freind who has labs , she might know of one ,or be able to tell you where your nearest rescue centre is,

Yes it was from the woman at bothal. I got two in the end as I knew they would keep each other company when I was out during the day. They are just fantastic company. Wish I had had dogs years ago!

when you take older ones on like that do you get told the circumstances etc and all about their life so far or was none of it known--anyhow im pleased you're happy with them :)

Sorry its taken a while to get back to you. I found out quite a bit about my two. They have been extremely well looked after, it was just that the owner was terminally ill and could no longer look after them. They are very obedient and have obviously been used to having lots of love and affection. The notes which came with them pretty much explained every little habit that they have, which are really endearing. They were a little overweight when I got them as they had not had much exercise, however they are much thinner and more sprightly now!
