Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Suitable treats for Boxer puppy (8 wks)

Hi there, just found the site and it seems to be full of good advice.

I was wondering what would be suitable treats for my new puppy (He a lovely 8 week old boxer)? as he seems to be very intelligent, I want to get him training sooner rather than later. I have seen treats in the stores but they seem to be for 4-12 month pups.

He has no problems with the crate, only whimpers when its toilet time so I want to treat him. I think this would be the key to finally getting him outside.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I have mine the rice bones made by pedigree.
They are chicken flavoured, my puppies loved them :)

Small pieces of cooked chicken (chicken roll from the deli counter usually goes down well), hot dog sausages (again, small pieces), or ham....... They key to a good reward is plenty of flavour but easily chewed/swallowed so they are ready for the next piece (and therefore the next bit of learning) and not spending half their time chewing......

cheese, but mild

ham

chicken

also dive him harder treats like doggy biscuits. not many of these but it will give him something to crunch on
