We've recently adopted an 8 year old Springer, who is, on the whole brilliant.

Our one problem is that when we leave him in the room at night he tends to throw all the furniture he can around - his bed, sofa cushions etc.

During the day he knows he's not allowed on the sofas, but at night he takes over - any ideas how we can stop him?

(He's never used a crate, and I think it would be unfair to introduce it now. He used to sleep on his previous owners carpet)

Hi

We used to have the same problem with our 3yr lab and our only solution was to put large objects such as clothes airers or boards on them .Other than that I dont know what to suggest I assume this is the room he sleeps in ??

Has he got his own bed in the room?

Brinny

EDITED TO SAY- sorry just re read the post and it says his bed. Can he not be left in a kitchen area or similar over night? I have 4 springers and they all have their mad moments perhaps it is just that he has his over night!!!

I have rescued a lot of dogs in my life and trained alot of rescue dogs also. It doesn't matter the age when they are crate trained. They come to see the crate as their den and sacuary. As a place to eat and drink and chew on bones or kongs peacefully. THis is the best suggestion. It protects your furniture and gives the dog a haven.
