My miniture pom is staying in bed and I seen tonite she is lactaing... but is not pregnant. She is acting funny towards our other dog who is 13, this is not normal for her. She did get up and play ball today but not for long and hasn't been eating too much but a little, she was at the dinner table tonite. Is this normal could this be a false preg? Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds very much like a false pregnancy. Was she in season a few weeks ago? It's best to give her more exercise and encourage her to play. If she's mothering any soft toys take them away from her as that can prolong it.

If you're into natural remedies Homeopathic Pulsatilla is good.

Thank you for your reply. She is only attached to her ball of all things and we took that away from her. She is nesting in my bed, not funny for her but so cute. I also got her a new chew toy, and the exercise is hard because of the ball. Can you tell me a little more about the pulsatilla and where I may be able to get it.

Hi,
Pulsatilla can be bought at health food shops and Boots and I think some chemists now stock them. It is the main remedy for phantom/false pregnancy. I would give Puls.30c 3 times a day for 7 days. If you don't know anything about homeopathy it might be worth getting a basic book (health foood shops sell a range and Boots used to give a free booklet) as it's a totally different principle to drugs or herbal remedies. They would be books for humans of course but the basic principles are they same whatever species. Or you could search on the internet.

Is she interested in her new chew toy? Perhaps you could treat her to a few different new toys to take her mind of babies.

My friend own a big health food store in my area which is Michigan. I will ask them. She is only a 5# dog. She loves her new chew, and seems to be comming out of it. She has spent more time out of bed, and was outside tonite for the trick or treaters, she really needed a costume!!! she still has milk.... I really want to get her breaded, but need to find a male. She is a darling dog, with a wonderful personality, but we all feel that way about our babies don't we. I really appreciate your help, and yes I am into natural things, I do it for me too!!! Thank you Nise
