Dogs do not need to go into kennels to catch Kennel cough, it is transmitted in the same way as a cold in the human and can be picked up just by breathing in.
If Toby is young, old or infirm then get him done, but there are as many different sorts or Kennel cough as there are chest infections in man so even if the dogs is given an inoculation it can still get it.
Thankyou Jackie, Toby is 8mnths, the vet said it was not a very nice inoculation to have and he would need it every 6mnths,

Both our previous Rotts had Kennel cough as pups. Storm was only 7 weeks old and had just come home when he was diognosed he passed it on to Hollie she was 7 months. Storm came with it from the breeder but hadn't shown symtoms when we collected him. Both were fine and made full recoveries. Unfortunately, both dogs are now no longer with us due to old age illnesses.
