my female mongrel stayed with friends a few weeks ago as i went away on holiday, they have a dog that they regualary use at stud,my dog was not due into season until this month, but they said that when i got back that she had can into season, they said that my dog and theirs had tied, and that she could possibly be pregnant,or get pregant.
i checked and she had come into season,so why was it a month early? she is booked in to be spayed and to have a possible pregancy ended tomorrow.
but now my friends are saying that there dog can never be mated again as the mating that took place betwwen my dog and theres has ruined him.
is this possible?,can he still be mated with a dog the same breed as him,or can he no longer be used at stud? as he tied with my mongrel.
waiting for a reply in anticipation,Kelly

Don't worry first of all I think what you are doing(spaying) even though maybe pregnant is a very responsible thing!!as for your friend I don't know where they got this info but its a load of rubbish.A dog can't be ruined by breeding from another breed.

with folk as clueless as your friends,--they shouldnt be in charge of anything used at stud !!!! which breed are they playing with, might be an idea to leave them thinking he shouldnt be used again :D but refuse to pay a stud fee

what do they think he caught of you bitch mongrelitus :D and will only produce mongrels.
sorry but your freinds sound stupid try telling them you saw a fairy at the end of there garden mabe they will belive you:D
I dont know if there just stupid or trying to trick you into doing or paying them , or just want to make you feel guilty.
its the weirdest idea about dogs ive herd in a long time:D

Hello Kelly,

What total utter rubbish your friends are saying ! i actually found myself laughing (which i have not done for such a long time) , but thats ment in the nicest way possible :)

They can still use their dog at stud , but maybe they should re-think on the whole idea when they are so mis-informed about the whole thing !

Dont worry about them , think about your own dog , i am sure shes lovely , get her through the next couple of days.

Good luck with her , Dean :)

ps, just found out how to do smileys !

If your friends are that stupid (and irresponsible!) then let them believe their dog is ruined as they are obviously too ignorant to be breeding :(

Well let me put it this way. All the people that aren't virgins on their wedding day, do they go on to produce children by their first partner, or the person they are with???

If my first husband was black and my second was Asian, would I produce black children to the Asian man?

If my husband had been with a red haired woman, would my children that I wnet on to have be red heads.

OF COURSE NOT. So how such a silly old wives tale has grown up about livestock I don't know.

ROFL! :D

Give them the vets bill - as 'breeders' they should have noticed your dog was in season and kept him away from her ;)

I think that your so-called "friends" are just trying to put pressure on you NOT to have your bitch spayed - so that they can then claim a stud fee/sell the puppies :( !

You are doing the right and responsible thing - their dog cannot be ruined any more than they have already done, imho!

Regards

Margot

I was told the same, that if a male got a mongrel it ruins the male for life. I too thought it was rubbish lol. It seems to be an old wives tale, I wouldn't worry to much. Like the comments above i also agree, as "breeders" it is their responsibility. They should have noticed the bitch to have been in season!!! I hope all goes well. Good luck
