Topic Dog Boards / Showing / operation - fur growing back
- By river [gb] Date 27.10.03 14:24 UTC
hello i am due to show my dog at an open in november and recently he has had to have an operation to remove a lump from his leg for medical reasons. The fur is growing back but maybe will still be able to see the area slightly. Do I have to take a letter from my vet to explain/prove the operation was for his health reasons? I am hoping it won't go against him? or will it?

The judge will take no notice of a bald shaved patch, nor scars from bites or accidents. There is I think if you are to stick strictly to the rules a need to tell the KC that the dog has had the op, but all I can say is if everyone let them know every time someone had a wart removed from their dog they would have to increase the number of people they employ by a good few dozen.
