Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Judges Critiques

There is constant criticism about Judges reports not being seen in the Dog Papers. From the other side of the coin do other Judges on this board find that when they have sent in reports especially by Email that they do not appear? When I sent reports by snail mail they always appeared but since sending them by Email I have had problems and Emailing the paper about it gets no response at all either.
I have to admit to not going home and immediately writing them but they are sent in within the required time. Anyone else had prtoblems?Jan

Never had one not appear at all but the one from the last show I judged at the beginning of August has only just been published in this weeks Dog World, I was getting embarrassed to go to shows in case people thought I had not sent one in, so at the last show I went to, said to some of the exhibitors that I had sent one in and they said it had been in Our Dogs weeks ago. So it seems that Dog World will put the critiques in when they have the space and that Open Show critiques comes well down the list of importance. Shame Open shows need all the help they can get and reading a nice critique is good for getting the enthusiasm going.

so do you judge them as well then,Isaw one in my town centre the other month. It was nothing like that but thats what she said it was.Yoursis lovely. But can i just ask something i read ages ago in a book or somewhere that they can suffer from skin problems with all those wrinkles. Is that true?I have a bloodhound with lots of wrinkles never had a problem, but just wondered if it was a breed thing.
thanx Deb

if you look at casey youll see she has wrinkle on her body-yet ive kept her in the ring in full coat, ---they seem to think that most of the skin problems in the breed where food based. , also a horse coat pei when its casting can look bad, some vets think its ring worm as they often have bald circles, it can happpen in the brushcoats too. --but all breeds cast, !!! we have a few thyroid problems which could be the cause for some-but if you go to a show i doubt youd see any who's coat looked bad, ---so my answer would be no, they dont suffer from skin problems, providing you go to a respectable breeder with well reared and cared for pups, all should be ok,

Thanks for that probably sounded like a stupid question, but ive only seen a few and yours is so lovely. But far too specialist for me.Leave them to the pros.I will stick with my lot.But i was just showing my friend and we are so taken with yours.Well to look at not own.Well i hope you carry on with all your success.Ands thanks for the info
All the best
Deb
Now is that why you are called dizzy after the dog or the other way round
- By dizzy [gb] Date 26.10.03 22:27 UTC
theyre not a specialist breed--theyre so easy to live with---the hardest bit is keeping the nails short as they grow quick and they hate having them done!!! and because theyve such tiny tight ears [well they should have] they can get infections, so they need kept right, -other than that theres not a lot else to do,
id bet those showing poms have a harder time of it with the trimming-washing-blow drying etc., --pei are very very easy to get ready for the ring=----------you put there collar and leash on-and just take them :D

yeah got to say i love the poms even with the hairdrying and girly stuff but i have always had a thing about sharpeis. They just always look so dignified and sure of themselves.I must say if i didnt have Dex (my bloodhound ,who i would die without)i would consider having one.But as i say i know nothing about them ,i just think the are the nicest looking dog around,i know not a reason to get one.Its just when i looked on your homepage that is so the best looking dog i have ever ever seen.
You must be so proud. But i still love the poms.Only on my other thread i am having a little grief with one so im hoping some1 will answer me.
