I hope you have done extensive research into the breed! If you haven't i suggest you buy some books about the Stafford as a breed, meet some breeders at shows, talk to people who own them and then, if they are still the breed for you, go in search of a pup.
Be prepared for a wiat. The right puppy, from the right breeder may require your being placed on a waiting list.
But it is worth it if you are serious about owning a dog of any breed.

Hi,
I was told just yesterday, by a well respected breeder, that you can go out and buy a staffi pup any day of the week with no effort but to find the right pup takes time and lots of research!
So far I've been looking for mine since August and still not got her. :( I've used lots of my time researching the breed and related breeds to make sure that it really is a staffi I want and been to lots of shows to get a feel of what 'type' I'm after. Of course, I want a stocky red bitch and they seem as common as hens teeth at the minute ;)
Good luck with your search!

But the good ones rarely ever reach the paper, That's the sort you want ut it takes a lot of looking and a lot of research first. And be ready to be questioned.

I'm going to pick up my staff bitch pup on Saturday morning. We've been waiting since May to find the right one. However i do believe she hasn't yet found homes for all of them. Knowing what you're looking for would help greatly!!!

Hi Ginger,
It's a frustrating wait isn't it? I can't wait to find the puppy for me but I seem to have made it all the harder by wanting a red bitch from a good line

How did you choose yours in the end? I'm finding it really hard to do - esp since I'm in Northern Ireland and all the great pups seem to be on mainland!

Hi Wishfairy. Was a long and frustrating wait. Not too clued up on good blood lines as long as the pup was KC reg. I've no intention to show or breed. And i know this may sound funny but i always had a thing for the staff in the film Oliver. So i wanted a white pied eyed and that was why we had to wait so long! still we pick her up tomorrow and i can't wait to get her home and settled in :-)

:D I'm all excited for you! You will have to email me a pic once she's settled in and you might surprise yourself with showing - some of the best dogs in the ring were bought to be pets.
Edited to say - That was the first staffi I fell for too... at a very young age ;)

Unless I have seen a different version of the film, the dog was in fact an English bull terrier, not a staff. The film starred Oliver Reed. Not being funny, hopefully helpfull!
