Topic Dog Boards / Health / A Strange Tail

I am a little concerned over Gus's tail today -
it doesnt seem to be lying flat/flush when it is down . It seems to be raised very slightly from the base . I have checked it and cannot feel anything out of place but I am wondering whether it has anything to do with anal glands ???
Anyone else had this ? Maybe I am being over anxious I dont know -but I am sure it is not normally like this . Doesnt seem to be hurting him either .
Any views or advice anyone ??
Lesley

Can't remember your breed but that is how it should be to allow air to the anus, some breeds (GSD) do lay close to the anus and they, the GSD's have problems because of it. If this is something that has changed then perhaps a check by the vet may be in order but if it is just that you have only just noticed then I would not worry.

Hi Lel, can't see what it is that is causing you worry but I would not expect a Staffie tail to lay tight to the body, rather to be able to see a small gap between the tail and the anus. Only you will know if it 'looks wrong'.
