I will be looking to buy a staffie bitch puppy sometime next year (already have a 3 yr old dog) Is £500 about the right price for one? This is the price of most i have seen for sale.

The average price is between £400-£500 from a decent breeder . I would have a
good look around though as some people do expect £500 for a pup with no decent pedigree ( ie no champions etc) so if you are going to pay that much you want the best around :)

yes thats about right £450 to £500 unless you are after a blue as they make ridiculous prices ( not to keen my self) make sure you get one from a good breeder and you can see both parents and their pedigree's. Its a good idea to ask a breeder if you can see a 5 generation pedigree from both sire and dam.

Yes I would say £400-£500 for a well bred Stafford pup. I would have a look around the shows and see which dogs you like then go from there. What about the breeder you got your dog from?

Do check out the pedigree though - sometimes a google search will bring up a dogs history ;)

It depends I would think on the dogs in the pedigree some dogs never made Ch's but seem to produce Ch's.

I would say (and I stand to be corrected here) that if the bitches in the pedigree are not Ch's don't worry to much. BUT I qualify that by saying a pedigree is just a lot of names some in Red (ie Champions) that only makes sense if you know what the dogs are like look's and temp is. Ask your dogs breeder even if they only breed brindles/pieds they may well know where and to whom to reccommed to you.

Have you seen Red dogs that appeal to you?if so what breeding are they?

Whether it is too much or not is really up to you and what you are willing to pay .
If the pups parents are not shown and have no champions in the pedigree I would ask why the breeder feels they can justify asking the same price for a pup whose parents are shown and do well and has lots of champs in the bloodline
You will find that people see an ad for say £500 and automatically think that is the going rate and therefore charge the same but you should be paying for quality . Some people are just greedy .
£500 is the top end of the scale . You can get a quality champion sired pup for £450.
A good red you may have to wait for
