Becks is a 15 weeks old westie, at what age should I start taking him for grooming? I brush him every day but his nails could do with a trim.

i would take him as soon as possible, its good for him to get used to being handled by the groomer and would be less stressful for him in the long run :)

Hi,

I agree that the younger the better. If you have a nice groomer, I would ask them if you could bring your puppy in for a short visit to get used to the groomer, the grooming shop (if they have one) and the noises.

If your groomer knows how to strip or hand role coats she or he could also help by removing your Becks' puppy "fluff" now. (I believe you posted previously that your puppy was "moulting".)

Took Buddy today for a trim. He's been there about 5 times in total but today was the first time he's not wanted to go in. He was really pulling to get out the door which i thought strange cause he's always gone with the staff happily before. It upset me alittle cause he was jumping up at me and hiding behind my legs to get away from them. God i hope they've not been unkind to him the last time he went, then again he may have known he was about to get a bath and he don't like baths.
He now looks clean and gorgeous and is curled up on the spare bed while i'm on the computer. It surely is a dogs life right enough.

Hi BECKSMUM, As you can see i'm becksmummy too. I have a 12 week old yellow lab. Our vet does clipping nails and is cheeper than the grooming parlour.

HI!!!!!!
I do all of my own grooming, including the nails and trimming between the pads. I start them off with a bath as soon as the pup arrives home with us, well within the week.
Pups bred here are given a very quick bath at 6 weeks and are blow dried and their nails clipped to accustom them with the ritual before they go.
Grooming is a top priority in dog care and should be started ASAP so as to avoid problems later.
Good luck
