Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Should I be wary..?

Hi,
I have recently enquired about a golden retriever puppy and the breeder was not 100% sure of the fathers hip score. They thought it was a total of 15 or 16 but I wondered whether this is something breeders always check before mating their dogs..?
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Hi,

I would ring her again and ask her maybe she, distracted. You could ask her for a photocopy
of the parents hipscore cert and eye one and ask to see the original one when you either see them or pick pup up.
My hipscore cert and eyes are all photocopied so if anyone requires one they can have a copy and Im happy to show them the original.
I certainly would want to know the hipscore berfore puchasing any puppy. The brred average is 19 for Goldens.

Good luck,

Briony :-)

Guest if the breeder has registered the puppies already then the hip scores will be printed in the KC paperwork along with any other tests such as eyes and elbows. You could ask if she has them.
