Hi,

I have a 5 month old male staff who has this week taken to chewing through a fence panel he has plenty of toy and is not lonely as I have a 2 year old female staff to keep him company, we have temp repaired the fence so that he cann't get through but does anybody have any tips of what I should do, when I had seen what he had done I smacked his backside but will this help, never had this from other staffs that I have had.

Comments much appreciated.

probably sounds a little strange but i always get mine to bring her fetch stick back from the park - stops her wanting to destroy anything else. she has very little interest in toys apart from the odd teddy from time to time. is my first one so dont know if this is normal for every1 but sounds like your is a little like mine.

hitting him wont help at all, not only is he a staff so probably just thought "what the hell was that" it will only cause the dog to distrust you & have the opposite effect.

Hi

Just a thought what is the fence panel painted with? and what's on the other side? another dog/children/freedom/ or a plant.

Fence is not painted as these have only just been put a few months ago, nothing on the other side apart from freedom.

Thanks
