Hi guys, did anyone see wife swap last night, if you didnt your truly deprived. For anyone who did see it i couldnt get over that couples attitudes to animals, telling the kids the cat and dog stayed outside and worrying coz a guinea pig and rabbit were walking about in their kitchen-its pathetic. Some people's attitude disquests me, plus their dictating attitude baffeled me, weekly fines for the kids if they watch tele gone 10 o'clock. Its madness.
Some of you must have seen it?

If anybody tried to make my animals live outside, they'd be very sorry, very quickly.

I very much felt for the step-dad though - he clearly was doing what he thought was right...and was definitely open to suggestions on improving his relationship with the children whilst the wicked witch was out of the way :)
I have met several women like her in the past, a lot of which are army wives. Very uptight, prudish, and po-faced...right up to the point they get a bottle of Lambrusco down their necks......

Hey miloos, you must be just around the corner from me (ish). Have to tell you all that attitude is not typical of our area, our cats are on the beds and the dogs on sofas, chairs beds oh and one may even be in a dog bed in the kitchen!

hi lesley, i know, all my labs commandeer our sofa, and protest loudly at being chucked outside.i know thy're not typical, they're freaks.it's the kids i felt sorry for, he was sergeant major one minute and a bloody octopus with the girl the next.very wierd:(

I watched it with interest ...at first I thought that there was something seriously wrong with the uptight chap ..but the more I watched , the more I realised that most of the problem lies with the wife.
I don't happen to think either couple were entirely right though ..I most certainly would not allow my children to stay awake and watching the TV until 1 or 2am whether it is the holidays or not ;)
I think a medium between the two is the best way ...children need boundaries but also some freedom and responsibility IMHO ;) I was pleased that the step dad was getting on so much better with the children before the wife returned ...I wonder how long it lasted for though?
Melody :)

They always try to choose couples whose lifestyles are diametrically opposed..... I thought both couples were pretty diabolical!

it upset me when the boy greg said he had called the bloke dad and he sniffed and said i didnt hear that. grrrrrrr.
That woman has a serious problem. Anyone who isn't allowed out on their own and has to have a rota for cleaning and can't stand the thought of an animal in the house has to have some sort of mental disorder. However, I did think the other woman was very wrong with her attitude towards kids bedtimes and eating vegetables.
Here I sit, on my computer, heaps of papers and dirty tea cup in front of me, and two labs at my feet - and this in a bedroom - whatever next!!! ;) :) :)

OOh that woman how dare she make the pets stay outside!! What is the point in having a 'family' pet if it's outside?? and that lovely chocolate lab was sooo obviously a house pet it would be cruel!!

I was going to post a similar thing. That woman was evil!!! If some uptight woman walked into my house and started telling me to keep my pets outside - especially considering it was summer and very hot outside - i would have probably reacted the same way as those kids did!! How dare she! Ok if she wants to make up silly rules about snacks and bedtimes but you can't just lock their pets outside, they live their too. That evil cow was horrible to her swapped husband too - poor man, he was only having fun next door with the kids and she was demanding that he got home by 6.30 to hoover the stairs! She was a complete control freak, and its not surprising that her real husband acts like he does. Did you see the way she reacted when she heard about - (gasp!) a guinea pig and a rabbit being in the kitchen - where they (wait for it) prepare food!! Well in my house i'm afraid food comes with token dog hairs - adds flavour! That other couple were much more fun and chilled out. As you say they chose two completely differnet families in order to see sparks fly!
At least the daughters of the 'pet loving' family stuck up for their pets, and refused to leave them outside and told her to stuff her rules (not quite that terminology though! :D)
