I own a 9 month old westie. She's perfect in every way except that when we are out on a walk and i let her off the lead if she see's another dog (or just a person!) she get's all excited and runs up to them, totally ignoring my shouts and screams to come back!.I've tried carrying treats in my pocket to persuade her to stay next to me but to no avail. Please help!!

I know it can be a problem, my staffie did exactly the same, i was having real problems so i was advised to either take a ball or some other toy to the park to keep the dog distracted or to by whats called a "Long-Lead", you can get them from most pet shops, they are NOT extension leads. What they basically are is a lead thats around 30ft long and the way it works is you let the dog walk on this lead in the park so it allows them some freedon and what you do is every three or so minutes you call the dog back to you, even if their doing nothing bad it gets them used to coming back when you say, it worked with me so give it a try.

Good Luck
