We have a new golden cocker spaniel bitch, she is ten weeks old and is biting everything in sight. She doesn't listen to no or naughty and when we say this, she seems to bite more or goes for our ankles. She is also biting my three childrens' feet and ankles. She has a lovely temperament otherwise and it is only when she's excited but the main point is she doesnt stop when we say no, she just bites more. A dog owner who owns my local shop has a black cocker bitch and recommended a tin with stones in to shake when she bites. Is this appropriate? I dont want to scare her or turn her into a nervous wreck!!!
Above all is this normal puppy behaviour? Really need some advice here, dont want the kids to be scared of her. My kids are aged 9 and twins 7 so are not toddlers who are unruly and grabbing her all the time.

Yes it is normal and the best way I have found is to give her something to take her mind of it. Gently push her away saying no and give her one of her toys to play with, if she does tell her good girl. Try to stop the children winding the puppy up.

Its normal behaviour honest! Ive got a cocker who is now 5 months old, he did exactly the same. Ive got a 4 year old, she tried to ignore him & say no, but he wouldnt stop nipping at her especially her ankles. I was worried she'd hate this pup that was forever trying to bite her, but now they get on great. He still has his 'nippy' moments but we can usually tell when hes going to do it, it means hes tired or just had enough.
The tin sounds a good idea, I tried rattling a wooden spoon in a saucepan, or just throwing a bunch of keys down in front of him to make him jump. I think he just grew out of doing it, but making all the noise certainly stopped him in his tracks.
