It never rains, but it pours, does it? My dear dear Damson has just jumped over a child gate in the kitchen and pulled her hip out of its socket . The vets have just put it back, and said it went back easily, which may not be a good thing as it can go out again. Her hips are (or were) good (score3/4). She's just finished a long season' picking up, so is very fit still (again - may not be a good thing)

One of those stupid freak accidents. I can't really think how she got caught up - you'd have to try really hard to repeat it.

Anybody got experience with after-care?

Crikey Jo, just what you didn't need! I hope Damson is ok. Leigh

Jo! I'm so sorry. You really are in the wars at the moment. If it’s any consolation, it's not that uncommon for humans to dislocate a limb. Athletes in particular dislocate a shoulder, put it back in and carry on the next week as if nothing has happened.

Very good AGM this afternoon by the way.

Best wishes, John

Sorry I missed it, John. Was too concerned. Could you give me a (quick) resume please?

Jo

Very quick resume. Most is as was. Keith Attfield has resigned as chairman after a heart attack last summer. Doug Leake is taking the job. Dick Smith, the Beaconsfield Town Cryer’s talk was hilarious. Oh yes, and I got presented with a lovely bottle of Damson Gin! (Which I’m looking forward to trying!!!)

Damson Gin eh? Shouldn't that go to a brave dog of that name not a million miles from here? I was given some Bullace Vodka (only a little) recently - lovely.

I hope you are bringing a hip flask to Crufts John! Leigh needs to try Damson Gin :D

I have an ever so vague feeling it's not going to last that long Leigh! :D

Hi Jo,

I broke my left knee in a car accident several years ago and dislocate it on a regular basis, at least once a month. The first time it dislocated I was told that the joint was now very loose and that I should expect it to happen again.

My understanding of these types of injuries are that if it happens a second time within 6mths it'll continue to be very week but if you can get past the six months then things should be okay. I was advised to do lots of exercise to strengthen the joint and the surrounding muscles as they are what holds the joint in place.

Hope this helps,

Fiona

Hi Fiona

Do you take anything to help - thinking of glusosamine, shark's cartilage or anything else?

Jo
