Hi all,

I was reading the other day about stud dogs and it said that there are public studs and show studs, could you tell me what's the difference between the two?

Dogs that are at public stud are where their owners are allowing them to be used outside their own kennels. I have never heard the term show stud but maybe this means that the use of the dog is confined to show kennels only rather than to anyone. Alternatively it could be that he is used for the use of the person owning him only and no-one else.
