LOL before I get jumped on I don't mean that literally!

I'm after a good show quality dog (probably a red stafford) I'm in Belfast but it looks like I'm going to have to shop on the mainland for her.

What I was worried about was first buying a dog 'blind' and secondly actually getting her over here. I'm willing to go and fetch her if necessary but are there any other options?

Any advise welcome :)

Can't help you with the 1st part - I know nothing about SBT, but I did once sell a puppy to S. ireland. The new owners came over on the ferry & I met them at Holyhead. Think that was the cheapest option. You could also fly over, but I felt the ferry was least traumatic for the pup.

one of our puppies from our last litter went to ireland in july,we spoke quite alot on the phone before they came over by ferry, they came to see puppy, and we got to know each other a little better,we still keep in touch , and hopefully they will be coming over here to show.i would never sell a puppy to anyone without meeting them first,i might not like them ,they might not like the puppy.and i think you need to see the mum,and anyother offspring.

Thanks for your replies. We've spoken on the phone and will do again before I decide if she's for me and vise versa. Obviously i don't have endless funds so I have to narrow it down as best I can before spending hundreds on travelling to see her.

i know you said that you do not have endless funds but have you thought about maybe a winter holiday here that way you could have a weeks looking around and getting to know the pup then bring him/her back.

I was hoping that the schools half term was the first week in November but it's early this year and I don't think she'll be ready to go before then :(

Also found out that the airlines won't let puppies under 10 weeks travel at all, so I'm thinking that there may be risks involved with flying? Shame, because it looked the quickest and easiest way to do it. I really don't want to chance anything happening to her.

Back online now checking out ferry prices and timetables...
