I have a little Westie bitch who is 10 months old. I would like to buy another bitch as a companion for her. I am concerned she may not take to another puppy, do you think there would be any problems at all, or is this a good age to introduce another puppy or not.

Hi!
I bought my 2nd westie when my other westie was around 6 months old (both male). Initially there were a few probs as the older one was quite playful with the younger one and I was scared that he would get hurt. I kept them seperated at night and supervised the play times. this worked well and after around 2 weeks they were put together at night. They adore each other and are great company for each other when I go to work. I am no expert, but I have found that getting the 2nd pup whilst my older pup was still so young worked well. The only problem I have at the moment is deciding which one to have castrated, but thats another story!!
Also, make sure that your older dog dosen't feel left out when you introduce the new pup. I found that my older one, although he never showed any jealousy, looked a bit put when attention was on the new pup.
I hope this was helpful and hope it works out should you decide to get a 2nd pup, I'm sure they'll be great mates!!

Thanks for your comments, deep down I know she will be okay but I just need confirmation from someone who has been in the "same boat". I really appreciate your comments.
