We have just had a new kitchen fitted, and for some reason 1 of our dogs has got a taste for the new cupboards. Does have anybody have a recommendation for something to put on them which Dougal may not like the taste of. Many Thanks

Try Bitter Apple

You can try a spray called Bitter Apple which you can get from larger Pet SHops or over the internet ...failing that (because some dogs LIKE the stuff) you could try some really cheap and nasty perfume , that will sometimes work , keeping them from biting things you don't want them to

Our last dog used to chew the kitchen cupboards and the skirting boards whenever we went out - so before going, I just used to give them a quick spray with kitchen cleaner (but just leave on instead of wiping off as you'd normally do). He never touched them then!

I think some dogs just enjoy chewing on wood - besides the kitchen cupboards and skirting boards, we've had lots of nibbling on table leg, chair legs, and the wooden step outside of the back door!

I use Mustard or Dave's Insanity Sauce!
Dave's works the best, its so hot i can't stand it, I can eat the hottest curry going!
It seems cruel to destroy the dogs' taste buds with the stuff but if you leave plenty water they get over it and dont touch the units!

We had this problem and tried Bitter Apple and also Chilli Sauce. The dogs loved this relish added to the woodwork!

We found the best thing to keep them away was a quick spray with WD40 maintenance spray, they hate it!

The added benefit is because it is a type of oil, it remains in place for a long while.

once used masking tape generously doused with tobasco sauce - doesnt look very attractive taped round the corners of the cupboards but did the trick lol.

didnt know you could actually buy sprays - is there anything they haven't thought of manufacturing lol
