last year i saw it on the shelve's in woolworths, great film i loved it when i was young...they might have it in there, if not you could try your local video shop mine often has old films to buy, pretty cheap too :)

My 1970s afghan coat was named after that dog... :o
:D

I bought a copy off ebay for the grandbairns about 3 month ago it only cost £1.20 and £1.00 postage

Excellent!!I will try E-bay in a minute, failing that will try woolies tomorrow, thanks for that!!
Jeangenie, dont mean to be rude but did your afghan coat smell at all????Lol sorry its just when i was little i had a friend who came from iraq and she had an afghan coat too,the real maccoy though but it absolutely stank, lol, lovely coat apart from that.By the way did you get my email??

When my coat was new it
reeked!!!

It had to live outside for a few days being sprayed with deodorant to get rid of the smell. Even after that it was slightly dodgy in the rain... I've still got it somewhere ....
Yep, got the email, thanks!
:)

I used to want an Afghan coat...but then the smell from my friends got too much so I wasn't bothered that I couldn't afford one ;)

Oh yes i remember the smell of my afghan coat great! i would spend my time in and around kensington market nothing smells like.
without meaning to sound stupid but what is an afghan coat?

An Afghan coat is the sort of embroidered 'inside-out' fur coat (either sheep- or goat-skin) worn by hippies (and wannabes ;)) in the 60s and 70s.
:)
thank you for clearing that up i know what you meann now ive seen pictures of them as they are before my time (running for cover now) :)

My Afghan coat was absolutely WONDERFUL!!! Used to wear it with wonderful white PVC stretchy high boots & short, short short skirts - and that@s when I was 8 months pregnant!!

3 pregnancnies later - the "dresses" I wore in 1966 & 1969 I wore as tops over trousers!
Now spending all my time destroying photos of those times.........

That is not a true Afghan coat.

That's the closest so far - as you say, that's only a short jacket, and the best were full coat length- and some had the most beautiful embroidery you ever saw!

I never had one, because my Mum said they were disgusting garments and she wouldn't give one house room!!! :( But a friend's big sister did and I was green with envy.
Actually, I'm surprised I could hear Mum saying No over the noise my Dad was making about Top of the Pops; "is that a man or a woman" "is he wearing make up, the big jessie" etc etc!

No, it's not what I'd have liked a piccy of :-) but it was the only one I could find on a quick search to show what was meant.....a 'real' afghan coat....you'd probably get a slight whiff of it via the picture :D :D :D

I bet you looked the bees knees, Margot!
