The greek authorities have been rounding up the"stray"dogs in Athens & sterilizing them before the games next year or at least that is the "official"story. Other sources in Greece state that in fact the dogs are being culled & more than 3,000 have been killled so far. There are around 10,000 strays in the area

I have asked some friends who are working there at present to check out both stories & if the latter is correct I for one will be not watching them even thought athletics is my favourite sport. When the games were in Korea I didn't watch then either due to the national delicacy of dog meat Probably a pointless gesture but I could not watch the games

Every country has its own quirks. This one is full of racist dog lovers who often think more highly of the animal than of most family members!
I love dogs myself, of most breeds anyway, and could never do anything to harm one. There aren't many other countries in which the people think so highly of the animal and therefore see fit to eat it. It walks, runs and makes a noise, just like a cow so whats the difference?!
Its no different to us eating lamb or chicken! My mother in law has chickens and loves them to pieces, talks to them and all sorts, they are her pets and that is how we (as a nation) are with pets. She still eats chicken, loves the stuff, as we need to eat in order to survive.
And to miss the olympics just because of some strays being kulled, which if in rescue homes would probably never find homes and be PTS eventually anyway, is rediculous!
Talk about extreemists!!!!!

So I am now a racist ? because I think non human animals should be treated humanely

In India they do not eat cowmeat but they do eat beef.

Does your mother roast the chickens & lambs alive ?

The greek authorities are making no other efforts to educate the population towards humane treatment etc of their dogs to prevent unwanted litters just rounding up & killing them

Personally that is probably the best fate for these unwanted dogs. It may not be how we would like it to be but I'd rather they were destroyed than living a life on the streets with all the trials and troubles that come with that.

Exactly.
If the dogs are never going to have a good quality of life they are better off out of it. I would want to be if it was me.

It's not them being killed it's the manner they are not PTS they are chased rounded & shot & the authorities are not neutering the strays & then rehoming just chucking them out back on the streets

As for the Koreans eating dog meat are you aware the dogs are not killed humanely & most are bbq'd alive ? Similairly cat stew is prepared by boiling the cats alive.

Sorry no matter what the customs non human animals have a right to humane treatment.

I do not put animals above humans, but I have yet to here of an animal that has tortured another for the enjoyment of seeing the pain caused
