We are thinking of buying another puppy. We have a Rottweiler called who is 4 and a fantastic friendly dog. We are unsure which breed would be the best to have. We dont want to upset our dog but we would like a playmate for him. Does anyone have any sugggestions?

Please correct me if im totally wrong here people. I would generally say it may be good to go for another Moloesser, purely because if your looking for a playmate it would have to be a dog of reasonable strength to play with a rotti, i would go for something like a boxer or a staffie because they will be able to play happilly with your other dog, also if brought up with other dogs both the breeds i mentioned make fab companions from my experience.
Hope your search goes well.

We know how you feel, our Rottie is 7yrs & she LOVES other dogs, the only problem you find is finding a playmate with an owner enlightened enough so that they don't immediately leash their dog when they see you coming round the corner!! At the mo' our pup's best friend is a boxer(lots of slobber!) but we're considering a younger male Rottie as she's a breed snob normally & v.dominant, so will need standing up to. Good luck!

If you are happy with your rottie why not have a female rottie as well? Another male might be asking for trouble in terms of dominance but he should get along with a rottie girl pretty well.
