We've got a very active Golden Retriever puppy. Until she was about 3 and a half months old she was prone to the odd (well, about twice a day) ‘mad moment’ where she would tear around the house launching herself at furniture and us, trying to grab any body part which came near. Telling her off just didn’t work, she would just bark back. In the end we just shut her away in another room until she calmed down.
When she’s calm she’s the perfect puppy, and she listens when we tell her off! On the advice of a dog trainer we switched her food to a lower protein variety which helped a lot and she became mostly controllable all the time.
Now she is 5 months and she seems to be regressing - the mad moments are becoming more frequent again. We’ve noticed that she is losing more baby teeth and wondered if this could be the cause. Thinking back, she was teething at the front of her mouth until about a month ago and now, after not losing any for a while, is teething at the back of her mouth. Does anybody think this could be the cause? Any other ideas?
sounds like a normal puppy to me

We call it the zoomies!! Where the dog runs round like a lunatic. When it starts just run into the garden and it should follow(ours does). and hopefully with it having more space to run it may not bother with body parts I only do that because a great dane with the zoomies is no laughing matter especially as i collect nao lol.

Sounds like to much high protein in the food. Mind you puppies do go mad occasionally during the day. So, it depends on when they do it. A build up of proteins over the day can make them worse.

It's the sort of behaviour often seen in teething puppies - it takes their minds of the discomfort. If you can rub a little Bongella on their gums it often helps :)
