please could you give me some information on this breed as my husband and I are thinking about having on as a pet we live on a farm and already have a jack ruusel and a springer gundog

Umm yes. I think it's Cairn Terrier ;).

Checking out breeders is good, and do be very careful in your choice - but check out the breed charachteristics first ;). I have a 5 month old Cairn pup, and can say this breed is full of charachter. Great temprement, full of mishief, comical, brave, intelligent and has a streak of stubborness ;). They are a long lived, healthy breed with a true terrier temprement, a BIG dog in a small body.

Those links will hopefully help, there are some good Cairn chat groups on Yahoo - just search for Cairn Terrier. I am part of a great UK one but not sure if it would br right to post address here. Not going to recommend a particular breeder - researching and contacting breed clubs will do that for you, and there are some here on the champdog breeder list.

Cairns are less hyper than Jack Russels. They also tend to be less aggressive. I had a number of friends who kept Cairns on farms. They make great companions for horses, especially. They are good mousers and ratters, like most terriers. They are intelligent, athletic, robust, good watch dogs (will go nuts if they even smell fox) but they are not protective, fun, great with children and friendly to strangers.
