Topic Dog Boards / General / Broken toes!!

It's actually me that has broken my toes(2 of em) luckily it coincided with dollys spay so the long walks are out of the question.
My father has been coming up at 8pm to walk her down the park on the lead as she is only allowed gentle walks. But she is an absolute nightmare for him, chewing the lead, jumping on his back, biting his hand, she has no respect for him at all. Yet she isn't like that for me and i'm very suprised?
What's gone wrong? I'd hate to take up the lead again to a boistrous puppy. My dad has had dogs all his life and knows how to handle them and even he is miffed at the change between him and me walking her.

Well, I can't really advise as only me and my immediate family have waslked my danes. Willis loves chewing his lead with all of us - he started doing it about 8 months and still does it now. We tend to take a toy to distract him.

We don't walk Phoebe on a lead - we live in the middle of nowhere and Phoebe is not interested in anything other than us. She doesn't go near horses, nor other dogs, nor people, and we have no livestock here...she doesn't even look at our rabbit or GP's. Whats your girl like with other distractions?

Only my husband and i walk her and she isn't too bad with distractions, every dog i've owed when outside they couldn't care less but Dolly makes you center of attention and sticks like glue. But this with my dad is strange?
Maybe it's the scent of the new dog he took?(a male)

Sarah(very baffled;)

its probably worth saying that my danes wouldn't go anywhere for a walk with anyone else, especially Phoebe! She won't have anything to do with any of our family, including my dad, although Willis is friendlier. Danes are very devoted to their familes :)

Oh chloe i have just been told by another Dane friend what the problem is!!

It is probably because she hasn't had much exercise since being spayed and she is now going off on one lol when she is out because she is thrilled!! But my dad will need to practice the sit/ settle down rountine..

Amazing sometimes how my father and i lack common sense :)
