Having never owned a bitch before, would it be a wise thing to bring one into my home on a fostering basis, bearing in mind that I already have 2 entire males? Would the males start to fight over her? I have no idea, so would aprreciate a bit of advice. She is 5 years old and they are all GSD's.

we own a bitch of 6 yrs and bought a catrated male into the house (when she was 5yrs) and he done nothing but try to mount her, which she hated. But three weeks done the line we had to return him to the home because he truned very nasty.
Just thought i would tell you my expereince.
Both GSD
But we now have a 6 month gsd Bitch and Ice is great with the pup (had her since she was 7 weeks).

You could well upset things between the males if the bitch is entire. If she is a resue they may not know when she is due in season, but your boys will know before you do that she is c0oming in and just might fight over her. I wouldn't risk it if your boys are not a big age gap apart.

Could be even worse if she's been speyed as a speyed bitch can appear to be 'nearly' in season all the time :(

Friend of mine years ago had 2 dogs and a bitch, and the dogs ended up fighting so much she had to re-home one of them. She had sent the bitch away for her season, but the equilibrium was never re-established.

I personally don't think it would be worth the risk, knowing how much you love your boys!

That's news to me re speyed bitches. A speyed bitch does not have the same odour as an intact bitch, so I do not see how she could mimic a bitch about to come in season. Would you please explain? I a considering adding a second dog, I have a speyed bitch, and was wondering if an intact male would be a problem.
