My ESS bitch is still producing milk.Pups are 8 weeks now Started weaning at3-4 weeks ,at 5-6 weeks , she was visiting pups less frequently until at 6-7 weeks she was away from them altogether,by her own choice.I have reduced her food intake but she is still quite full.No discharce or anything and she seems quite happy I just thought she should have shown some sign of drying by now.Years ago u used to be able to buy Kest tablets which worked a treat (epsom salt tabs) I've tried epsom salts in her water but she won't drink it .any ideas guys ,We are going to the vets on wed for her post natal check anyway but i would still appreciate any feedback I know one of u is bound to know

Hi!
I would say cut down on her water intake and it will eventually dry up, use warm compresses if she is sore from engorgement still.
My dogs take a couple of weeks to dry up and never have had a problem.
Hope that helps.

HI, I would drastically reduce the amount of protein she is having, if she is on a complete feed, maybe give her a quarter to half her normal (before pregnant/nursing) amount and make up the volume with plain cooked rice, and no meat at all, if she has it. No eggs or milk or any extra protein foods at all. I would not reduce her water intake for too long, ask your vet, he may be able to give her something to help - I know the doctor gave me some tablets to dry me up!
Thanks guys but we have now been to vet who says shes fine we bathed her with warm water ans massages her well and that seems to have done the trick milk is now dying up fine on its own
