I have a 18 week old Bichon Frise dog puppy, somtimes he asks to go out but other times he just goes, he is also still unclean during the night, although he is penned during the night. I bred and showed Shetland Sheepdogs and Rough Collies around five years ago then due to personal problems had to give up but it wasn't this difficult with those breeds than it is with this pup, can anyone advise me on how long it should take for a pup to be completely house trained and how long before he will be clean at night?

I think all breeds vary,as do individuals within a breed. Personally, I would not expect a puppy to be 100% house trained at 18 weeks.
