Has anyone got the red book so they can see if there is a rule about the Challenge. Yesterday our judge called in second place in open before he awarded the CC. Some say this is an old rule that has never been changed, although it doesn't happen anymore, and it is okay, some say the rule was changed. Can anyone help?

As I understand it the judge can call into the ring any dog they wish to consider, it has become usual for it to be any unbeaten dog, but it could as far as I understand be every dog that had gone under the judge. To ask the steward for the 1st and 2nd in each class seems fine, but to only ask for the 2nd in one class says I am awarding the CC to the dog that was 1st, not the best idea.
