Has anyone used this - what do you think? I've been told it's lower in protein that Eukanuba which I currently use. I'm hoping it may help calm down my very giddy girl :D

I've used Burns since August and am very pleased with it - the dogs love it (not that they are fussy eaters) and even treat it as a yummy treat for training <G> One is a Border Collie cross and always had a dull coat - particluarly in the winter, but this year she positivly glows :-) As for calming influences - it's chicken based which is said to be less 'heating' than red meats, and I've certainly had no problems with either of my two who are both Springer 'influenced' to a greater or lesser degree (not a breed known for it's steadiness <G>) I buy the 15kg bag, and that lasts me about 8 weeks - less than £3 a week for each dog.........

Hi, I have used Burns with success too, though not for "giddyness" but lower protein foods like Burns may well help this sort of behaviour, I would definately think its worth a try. If you have to add meat to it (my dogs wont eat a complete food without a little meat) use chicken (preferable "real" as opposed to tinned) rather than beef.
I've been using Burns for almost 3 years for my lab. Prior to that I tried several foods, and she suffered with skin irritations, and upset tummy. Her coat is always good and she doesn't moult excessively. Last year she had a litter of nine beautiful puppies and kept in tip top condition throughout the pregnancy and whilst lactating. I weaned the puppies onto Burns and they all went to their new homes with a big bag of it. I know several of their new owners are still using it.
Obviously not all foods suit all dogs, but it has definitely worked for us.

Lorna - do you only feed Burns or do you add chicken or such like? The reason I ask is that I have just changed to Burns to try and cure itchy skin in a Westie but am not sure of only feeding a dried food over a long period of time. Whatever you are doing is obviously working what with the 9 beautiful puppies and the good condition of the bitch.
Hi Ailsa, I know what you mean, mine look at me quite disgustedly when I give it to them dry. For their morning feed they have 'Nature Diet' added to the Burns. This is a complete meat meal. In the evenings its just the dry Burns which they eat as they know its that or nothing! Burns have a website (sorry I'm no good at doing a link). They also do a fish and a lamb variety. They will send you a free sample if you ask.

I use Burns for my collie-cross, but that's because it was the only food he would eat consistantly. I think it's because the biscuit meal is more crumbly and he doesn't seem to like biting hard biscuits (bones, yes, but not biscuits!). He does have the most beautiful shiny coat that people comment on regularly, so it must do something right.
