Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / attention seeking??

We have had a 7month lurcher now for 2 weeks and have all been getting used to each other. She will sit and is learning to sit and stay.

She has started to suddenly act wildly and grab a toy or lead and go bonkers, growling and looking very aggressive.

To stop her we are either shutting her in a seperate room and then when she has calmed, bring her back and act like nothing happened or if she is out and biting her lead while running around madly, we get hold of her as calmly as possible and take the lead from her mouth and then hold her jaws closed while saying no. She then sits and will gradually calm down.

I am not sure if she is trying to work out her position in the house or just trying to get a reaction from us and would be grateful if there is anyone out there who can help.

Hi,
Gwen Bailey has written a book about rescue dogs (you don't say where you got your dog from, but rehoming at 7 months makes her a 'rescue' dog), and how they need different treatment to young pups in a new home, because they all come with a history. I think getting a copy of this book would help you tremendously. Good luck.
:)

Many thanks for book info - she is a rescue dog brought over from Ireland - the only information we have is that she is good with other dogs and that she is lively.
