Hi
i've just read the post on 'irresponsible owners' and in there was mentioned the breed called a SALUKI ,i watched a programme a few weeks ago(this was the first time i've ever heard of them) i was amazed by them,owned by arabs apparently!!
There seems to be a lot of history about this breed,lots of speed and excellent endurance,great programme actually,
anyway i'll get to the point,i've tried looking up breeders in the uk but had no joy(not that i want one of course,i have my hands full with 2 boxers!!)i was just doing some research on the breed and wanted to know more about them.
Does anyone own a saluki? if so,share some stories!!
I'm really fascinated by them.

They are not that unusual in the UK unless your are thinking of the Sloughi and there are not that many of them about. Talking of unusual breeds I was helping at a companion show the other day and not only did we have a Saluki we also had not one but two Azawakh owned by different owners.

I mentioned the saluki on the other post! She is my partners mum's dog 'Lily' she is absolutely gorgeous and very, very fast! She was used as a rabbit hunter apparently, she was badly neglected and subsequently ended up at a rescue centre, now she leads a very happy life with a Puli, a wheaten and a spanish water!!!!!! She loves attention, if you stop stroking her she whines at you and paw's you in the face :) A real lady though.

Hi Diane, its my boyfriends mum! The bitches name is Georgie - she is soooo much fun. I'm not quite sure where she got her but I know she had to travel (we are in Bristol.) She is also a pet, there is no intention to breed or show her (to be honest I think she was the weakest of the litter - dont like the word runt)!! But as you can imagine, with all those dogs it is a very active/hectic household. Unfortunately she is not online but I will mention this to her, find out where she got her.
