Hi, im interested in showing my puppy when hes older(hes only 10 weeks now), probably just in obedience/citizens scheme. Ive been trying to read up on it but i cant find a list of eligable breeds that can be entered or where different shows are placed and when. Does anybody know of any links? Ive tryed looking on Kennel Club but i want to know more info about showing.
Can Anyone help?

Hi Sharon,
What breed is your puppy? For the Good Citizens scheme it doesn't matter what breed he is - eligibility is open to all, including crossbreeds and mongrels. I believe the same applies to obedience competitions, although the dog must be registered on the KC's Activity Register - but again, that is open to all.
Hope this helps.

The only requirement is that your dog is registered with the Kennel Club as a pure breed. After that the best thing to do is - if your breeder shows ask them for advice and - take the dog to Ringcraft Classes as soon as it can go out.
sorry jackie...but i am sure for kennel club good citizen obedience your dog does NOT have to be purebreed. if you are right, then the kennel club examiners at ourclass have been getting it wrong for years! obviously for conformation they dohave to be purebreed.:)

Sorry I'm confused I thought the poster asked about the requirements for a dog show, I thought the good citizen was a test.
you are right in that the good citizen scheme is a training scheme, followed by a test. those of our group who have passed the gold award progress to obedience competition, initially at basic level. i think this is what the original post meant! :)
