Hi

Does anyone know if the cotoneaster plant's berries are poisonous to dogs.

One of mine has eaten some and the information I can find says they are poisonous, they aren't and they might be.

Many Thanks

Tom

After much research I think they are poisonous especially now as the berries are very ripe.

My mothers dog died two weeks ago, and we believe she had eaten a lot of these berries whilst in a friend's garden over the weekend, although the vet could not confirm this was the cause of her death all the symptoms pointed to poisoning. Vomiting and bloody diarhoea.

I would contact your vet and discuss with them if you are concerned.

Hi

Thanks for that.

Sorry to hear about you mother's Dog, I lost one of mine 3 months ago with the same symptoms and after weighing everything up I think she may have got Campylobacter.

see

My other dog ate the berries yesterday and has been to the toilet twice since and it was normal so I'll keep my eye on her.

Thanks

Tom
