Coming from a family brought up with gundogs although this is my first Gordon Setter, I have recently been told that liver (pigs) liver is an excellent supplement for dogs. I or my family have traditonally gone for good old tripe or chicken for an upset stomach. Anybody use liver or other fresh meat that binds well for their dog.

Hello. I give my dogs liver, kidneys & heart from pigs and lamb, raw, they love it and I know liver is very good but I think it should not be given everyday.

I am more likely to give liver is the dog is a tad constipated....not to bind

Yes, they do get a bit "loose" after eating liver!

I have found that chicken livers are least likely to cause the runs, but I only give them once a week or fortnight.

Ah! very interesting that liver might make him a little runny!! He is just that at the moment so I might just leave it for awhile, the poor thing is covered in fleas and so he's not very happy ..bitten..irritated..and a little runny too
