Topic Dog Boards / Showing / B&B's in Wales
- By mitch [gb] Date 09.10.03 14:17 UTC
Hi Everyone,
I am planning on going to the SBT champ show in South Wales. As it's a long way we are planning on making a weekend of it, maybe travel Saturday, stay over, go to show Sunday, stay over again, travel home Monday. Does any one know of any dog friendly B&B's in the area (LIantrisant) I think the nearest main town is Cardiff.
Hope someone can help

Michelle.

Is anyone else going.

Hi, I went to a show last Sunday at Llanishen and stayed just south of Cardiff in a town called Penarth. The guesthouse was called the Glendale and it allowed dogs. I must admit, though, I wasn't terribly happy with the room. The bed was lumpy and was a touch cold and it cost me £55 for one night (good breakfast though). I had a lot of trouble trying to find somewhere doggy-friendly near Cardiff although I know there is another guest house in Penarth which does allow dogs - can't remember the name off-hand though - let you know tomorrow if you're interested.

Hi Sarah,
Thanks for the details for the B&B.
Yes I'm interested in the other one if you remember , the more choice I have the better.
thanks Michelle.

Hi Michelle,
There's one called the Walton House Hotel at 37 Victoria Road, Penarth tel 029 2070 7782 and another called Rock House at 9 Beach Road tel 029 2070 4314. I don't know what they're like but both allow dogs. Don't get me wrong, the Glendale was very clean - just needed a nice warm blanket on the bed (and new mattress come to think of it).

Have you thought of staying north of Cardiff near Caerphilly? I was e-mailed a load of B&B's in this area - I'll forward them on to you if you wish (e-mail me privately, though). Good luck with the show!

Hi Gwennie,
I've just recieved the schedule for that show you were taking about, so we are going to enter it just in case we can manage it. We were planning on setting off on the Saturday, but we might be able to get away on the Friday night instead, if so we will definitely be there. I've noticed that Staffies are the only Terriers in the show, and they have got the most classes. I'm presuming they are doing that as they know they will be a lot of Staffies around due to the champ show the next day.
If we don't make that one, we will definitely see you on Sunday.
Michelle.
