My neighbour has a 9 week old puppy who is 75% GSD/25% Husky, I believe the mating was accidental but that isn't the point of my post. I just wondered if anyone has any experience of this cross, she is very good natured and has played well with my small children and my 2 adult dogs, backing off when warned etc, although she is not responding too well to her name but that may well be down to inexperienced handlers!

How strong could her Husky instinct be, I understand that Huskies are rarely let off lead as they tend to run off, but I know GSD's can be Velcro Dogs, so maybe this will counteract the Husky bit ??

Just interested to hear some opinions (I'm puppy sitting tomorrow afternoon, can't wait, great practice for when we get our pup!)

i have spoke to an experienced husky person who had dealt with such a cross and their opinion (which worked for the 2 they rehomed)was to treat like like a pure sibe. the sibe instinct to run as well as the prey drive is very very strong, hence the reason we dont let them off lead! obviously it is difficult to say who this pup will grow up but i would suggest that they be very careful with small furries, keep her on a lead unless in a secure enlcosed area and get some 6ft fences installed as the husky instincts in her may come through very strong, overriding the GSD,
