Stinkfoot had her final instalment of birthday treats yesterday when I took her to a well known girls stuff shop to have another hole pierced in her little ears. I nearly passed out when 2 nice young ladies took a gun each and postioned themselves on either side of my plump little darling, but she was very brave and only 1 tiny tear slid down her cheek. The thought of babies having them done makes me cringe.........

I know what you mean about babies.

How old is Stickfoot ? I let Flo have hers done last year, she has said tonight in passing so when can I have my nose pierced? I just said stupid question really and left it at that ! :)

She was 9 last Wednesday. Oh no, Flo, not your wee nose! Be prepared for further assaults Lucy as the belly button thing has been coming up for years......

my daughter has been nagging me for months now to have her belly button peirced, she is 10 (going on 16) when i refuse all i get is "well youv'e got yours done". Told her its against the law until your 14 so she hasn't mentioned it for a few days :)
- By charlie24 [gb] Date 22.09.03 21:54 UTC
I thought it was 16 or at least it was when i wanted one, if so even better.
- By jacki [gb] Date 22.09.03 22:24 UTC
where i live they can have it done as young as 12 charlie as long as an adult is there to give consent, not telling my little madam that tho!
- By LJS Date 23.09.03 12:33 UTC
She says it to get a reaction ! ;)

I can't stand to see babies with their ears pierced - what are people thinking? Little girls with no hair and studs through the ears :( And its not exactly painless either - selfish parents

Mollie had hers done at 8...but school kept making her take them out for swimming and PE and they healed up. This time (aged nearly 9) I had her excused from swimming for 8 weeks (she's a good swimmer anyway) and they agreed to let her keep them in for PE. It cost me £30 to have her ears done with decent earrings so I wasn't going to let them heal over again!

There was a little girl at Playgroup when I used to work there - got her ear-ring caught (sleeper) and it was ripped out - blood everywhere  and her Mum had a fit. Not half as much as we did! Flipping dangerous for little ones.

My niece is 14 has her ears (more then one hole per ear too), nose and belly button pierced. Her mom my sister has her ears, tongue and belly button done. Me I have 1 hole in each ear, and my daughet who is 11 years old is scared to have her ears done because it will hurt. So far no worries with her wanting to put holes all over her, not yet anyhow thank god.

ttfn :)

Over here it`s the custom for babies to have it done when new born. Usually a nurse at the hospital does it & they have the tinniest studs put in before they come home :)
I remember in my 20`s combing my hair & the comb caught & pulled my earing & split one side of my ear, boy that hurt & bled like mad!!!! It healed up OK tho & now the earing on that side is lower the the other, loppsided:) :)

Can't believe that school - were they sleepers or studs? Its best to pay up for decent earrings from a jeweller to avoid sore ears and to encourage taste. I know what you mean about the babies. My friend has an Indian husband and their daughters had pierced ears as babes. I was always terrified they would swallow them or get them embedded in their ears but they never did, and their mum swore it was less painful for babies ( which I still dont believe) Minibeast is thankfully silent on the subject and Gothboy has been swithering about it for ages. Thanks for the tip about having to be 12 for belly buttons chaps, SF is foiled again! :D

well, my friend had her belly button done and you can't wear jeans fr ages...takes up to six months to heal! I couldn't get my belly button done - too painful

my daughter had her belly button pierced but had to remove it when she was having her first baby. i also saw for the first time a heart tatoo on her hip.(whilst i was at ante natal clinic with her) she said she had had it years but never told me cos she knew i would go mad lol. so if they suddenly go silent girls......dont take it for granted that they have dismissed the idea lol.:d :d :d.

Thanks tanni ! I shall keep SF short of money and locked in her room for the next 20 years. :D

My best friend had her belly button done after she'd lost her weight from her first baby.
She made me laugh, I asked if it hurt, and she said, no, it wasn't too bad....but when she came to clean it the next day, she fainted and smacked her head on the bath, and ended up in hospital! Luckily she's ok though!

She's just found out she's pregnant with her second, and we've been discussing what she's going to do about her belly button piercing. She's hoping to keep it in throughout. Can't see that happening though!

Take care
Lisa

I am 42 and still hide my tattoo from my mum! My sister even threatened to tell her about it during a heated discussion and she is 60!!
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 06.10.03 21:20 UTC
Ah the power of Mums! Its funny how telltale sisters never grow out of it. Mine would shop me in a minute with her oh so concerned act to cause maximum damage. :D

By the age of 16 I had 4 holes in one ear and 10 in the other at 18 I got the lobe bit in the middle done, at 19 I got my nose done (and nearly passed out with pain !!) now at 25 I wear earrings in 2 holes in one ear and one in the other, the nose stud lasted two days before it got badly infected !! Problem is my ears are still full of holes - they look like a sive :D :D

Wouldnt mind getting my belly button done, ive been promising myself for years that ill get that done when I have a flat stomach otherwise it wouldnt be worth it - im still waiting (for the flat stomach that is :( )

:) claire :)

Ps, before you think bad of me for all those piercings, I was never a tart or into grunge, more of a reble - there was nothing I liked better at school, being a senior prefect, than getting told to remove the metal from my ears !!
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 07.10.03 09:44 UTC
Hi claire who should think badly of you for multiple piercings? Our chum is known as Metal Fatigue Maggie for this very reason, and SBs pal Big John is covered in tattoos and metal pins, both lovely people. Gothboy's girlfriend marched him off to the piercing parlour this weekend to have his ear done and Satan Filly is still teasing him about having the gay/straight ear done. Thank goodness shes off to Outward Bound Character Building ( ie cold, wet and muddy) Zone tomorrow.
- By ClaireyS Date 07.10.03 12:21 UTC
I didnt know if anyone would think badly of me ........ its sometimes difficult on here to judge how people are saying stuff thats why I like to use lots of smiley faces :) :) :) because I am a bubbly person :) :) :) unfortunately my user name doesnt do much for me !!!!

So have you established which is the gay/straight ear ?? im sure it used to change every week depending on which lad at school had which ear pierced !!

Have fun :D
- By Lorelei [gb] Date 07.10.03 20:24 UTC
Right the ear question is now settled - he can have as many perforations as he wishes in 1 ear and still call himself a man but no way should he have the other lobe done as this is truly gay. Gothboy isnt bothered about stigma he just dosent want the girls put off by a misunderstanding. SF is too miserable about being sent to "prison" for character building to tease him any more. :D

<<<Wouldnt mind getting my belly button done, ive been promising myself for years >>

It doesnt hurt a bit if you go to a reputable piercer . The lady that did mine also supplied a home made concoction to clean it with . I've never had any trouble ;)

Hi Lel

I would love to get mine done, loads of my friends have theirs done. My problem is my stomach isnt exactly what you would call flat  so there is no way I would beable to show it off if I had my belly button piereced. Getting it pierced is supposed to be my incentive to lose weight

Maybe one day :)

Claire :)
