Hi guys,
Just had to share this with all of you. My black lab pup, did a double whammy at training class today. He picked up 3 articles (not his own) in a CD search square in 90 seconds!!!!and then he completed a short track ( open sided box) in less than 4 minutes. How cool is that and he's only just 5 months old.
I know, I must be very sad indeed....LOL,LOL :);)
That's absolutely marvellous, what a clever little chap, well done :)
I know the sheer excitement and proud moments when your dog gets an article or completes a track - it's a bit of a buzz !!!
Where do you do your training?
Lindsay
Fantastic result! How did you start him on the track? Been bitten by the WT bug over the weekend too. So far we can start finding big things like cans or plastic bottles and follow a track to find a child and fetch outside 2 out of 5 times - just a dabble in the water really. You have a gifted puppy.:)
Thanks everyone for your kind comments:). I'll just have to keep my fingers and toes crossed for the next year and a bit!
Having had to retire my lovely bitch from competition just as she was getting started, I was sure that I'd never get another one that loves it soooo much, but I've been really lucky with my pup - I'll keep you all posted on his progress.

Hi, I train at Barking Mad DTS in Gravely, Stevenage. We share our ground in the summer with the Gravely fruit farm, but we get to use all types of land, grass, plough, crop, set-aside etc. Our Working Trials classes are on a Sunday and we run 2 for different stages, Beginner and Advanced. If you want more info, click on myname and e-mail me privately.
Cheers for the kind words
Ali :)

hi ali just tried to send some emails but they keep failing, so is your club any good as i am very local to thatarea and was thinking about ringing as i saw their adverts in petsmart.at the moment i take sam my lab/springer nmix to a couple of different classes just really to socialize him a bit better as he is a bit shy of people, in order to then move to something like flyball or agility, what do working trials consist of and would he be ablwe to take part even tho his a cross, as he absoulty lives for retriving be it balls toys stones lumps of wood especially if its in some nice overgrown patch of weeds. amber my lab just cant be bothered but im taking her to odd classes with my youngest child so hopefully she can go on and become a 'pat'dog but she needs to learn some manners

Dawn-You could say that I'm a bit biased about the club as I'm one of the instructors:), but yes, I hope that it's a very good club. We cater for novice pups all the way through to adults as well as a 'growlers' class and Working Trials class. If you're interested in Working Trials, the working trials websites are good and give you an overview on what it all involves. You'll probably see that the dogs are mostly Collies, Labs, German Shepherds, Rotties, Weimeraners, Vizlas and the like, but there,s no rule against crossbreeds, as long as they are fit and healthy. You can only compete when your dog is over 18 months old. It involves lots of different things such as Heelwork, Dumbbell Retrieves, Recalls, Nosework, Jumps,Stays and Tracking. At the highest level you can also do manwork. We also run week long intensive 'pet' courses and working trials courses, but if you just want to come and have a look, its best to give our office a ring to make sure that training is going ahead that weekend. The number is 01438 729000. You'l probably speak to either Lynne or Richard - don't worry, they're both really nice!. Anyway-hope to meet you sometime.
Cheers - Ali
Wow - just think what he will be capable of in thirteen months time if he keeps this up!
