This is an enquiry for a friend. My friend is waiting for a much anticipated pup to be born that she has been on the waiting list for a while but she has had no phonecall yet to say they have been born and it is over a week overdue. Is this normal? The pups are Cavalier King Chearles Spaniels btw, just in case that helps {:o))
Thanks
Graham

How do you know that they haven't been born the breeder is most likely to busy to call.
Your friend could always phone the breeder and ask.
After wasting a lot of time phoning people on my waiting list who'd either changed their minds, or got a pup from somewhere else in the meantime and not bothered to tell me I now wait for people to contact me, not the other way round. :)

So i will ask again....is it normal for dogs to have overdue pups?
Sorry Graham, I missed that bit of your post - my fault entirely. It depends if the bitch was mated once, twice or thrice, and which mating the breeder took to estimate the due date. According to the books I have, up to a week late from the last mating is unusual, but not unheard-of.
