I have just been looking on ebay for a dog training book and was horrified to see someone selling a collar that gives electric shocks to dogs to make them behave. I had heard about these disgusting things years ago but didn't know they were still around. Are they legal?? Surely this is not allowed in this day and age, I really felt annoyed that someone was selling such a thing let alone angered at the people who wanted to buy it, this is animal cruelty, can they get away with this does any one know?
I've just seen your post but I've actually just posted to another thread ( http://www.champdogsforum.co.uk/cgi-bin/board/topic_show.pl?tid=32699 ) about this subject. I've seen them advertised in this country in farming and shooting papers (I don't shoot just like to look at the dogs!).
This is the damage they can do although it's a collar and fence system for keeping a dog in a pen. Same principle though.

I think they should be banned. Not only are they a form of torture, I doubt very much whether you end up with a "trained" dog.
