OK folks what do you use for weaning, and do you try to introduce a variety of different foods or do you play it safe.

Years ago agonised over mince, weetabix, dilute evaporated milk etc..
Then used Pedigree Weaning Porridge when that first came out.
Now I feed Arden Grange Puppy to nursing bitches, I just put the bitch's food bowl in the whelping box rather than outside when the pups are 3-4 weeks and hey-presto they dig in when ready and wean themselves at their own pace. No stress, no worries and my litters have done very well on over the last couple of years.

Hi Jackie, I start mine off on scraped beef, then as the days and weeks go by I gradually introduce everything else, so by the time they're 8 weeks they're on one variety of complete (which changes with each litter!) but they're happy with egg, weetabix, milk, fish, raw meat, cooked meat etc. I've never had any problems with that regime, and I know that the new owners will be able to provide something suitable if they haven't got their heads round getting more supplies in after what I give them has run out.

I have been using Nutrolac (a Puppy formula made out of Goats Milk as opposed to Cows Milk) this time mixed with their soaked complete. Once they got to 4 weeks I introduced a variety of Raw meat as well.

They are absolute pigs, and doing really well, though they were already plump just on Mum and took me longer to get on solids than usual.

HI
I use Chudleys Starter Meal for a week or so (£6.40 Mail Order), gradually adding Chudleys Puppy to the meal (£11.56 Mail Order). It has given me some wonderful results. I then advise the pup is moved onto the Juniour feed once 3 months of age (£15.03 Mail Order).

Have a look and see what you think

Hope i have helped!
