I bought an adult goldie from his breeder that he had been returned to because of a change in his family's circumstances. He is lovely and has settled in well. However I have not yet received anything about a change of ownership related with the identichip although the breeder has promised to sort this out for the last 6 months or so. Should I be worried about this? How can I check whether he has been stolen from another family?

cant you ask the breeder for the forms with the microchip numbers on? as there is usually a change of ownership section on those forms and that is normally filled out by the new owners.

You can change the identichip details youself. Find out which company they used (either from the breeder or the vet that did it) as there are many different brands that do chipping, and get the phone number (very easy..its on top of the form, the vet will have it as they must keep records of all chips that ake place), then just give them a ring. It will cost aprox £5 to change or £10 for unlimited changes (prices will vary slightly according to company).
Very easy to do, so get on and do it as soon as poss. Dont wait for the breeder to send forms, they are un-necessary.

to find out the identichip number, you going to have to have the dog scann first bye a vet or dog warden,or a person that dose chipping.but has your vet didnt do it he will not have the records of it.but he should know what company the chip was make bye ,by the first couple of numbers or letter, then sort out the phone number of that company give them a call with the number they will let you what to do next, they will may let you know if the dog was stolen, but you are shaw that the dog came from the breeder,if so go back to them to find out were the details are,but the other family may have had the dog chip and not the breeder, and poss not give the breeder the details.what other paper work did you get with the dog when you bought him,how old is the dog. like steph said to change or up date the detail will cost the above in her post,
