due to a pup I sold being stolen 6 months ago and only just found out!! I'd like to get my new litter chipped before they leave.

Can someone tell me how much it costs and the youngest age to have it done? If they can't be done before they leave to their new homes then I'd like to pay for them to be done as soon as they can which I'll put in the puppy contract.

I would guess there would be different answers from different people on this one, so would suggest you contact the vet or whoever will do the chipping and ask them. As for price, if it was me, I would ask for bulk discount, but then I am cheeky! ;)

I'm at the vets next week for wormer so I'll ask him then - thanks for replying.

You could have them tattood instead or as well. A litter will be done in the nest, their number can be registered with the KC and appear on the individual certificates and one payment lasts for life. It is also visible to would be thieves and vets etc.

the avage cost is between £15 to £ 20.
the age that they can be done is from7 weeks and but if you leave it to the new owners they may not get it done.

i had my litter done at 7 weeks the owner's were very happy to take a puppy away knowing that it had been chip, one less thing to think about, plus they filled in the forms before they went so the details were the new owners and not the breeder so if the puppy got lost it went straight back to the owners., i mark the paper work the same colour as the puppy,so that the rigth paper work and chip number went with the right puppy,
if you want to give me a call on 01252310267 for more details i be happy to tell you plus i do mirco chiping where about do you live.
vet around her are between £25 to £ 30,hants/surrey.
you would get a discount if you had the whole litter done the price above at i wrote is for one dog.

thanks for that!

I'll get them done then at 8 weeks - i dont want them to leave until around 10 weeks, maybe 12 weeks if they arent ready - they are a week old today!

I'm in north east lincolnshire - so maybe a bit far from you!

I work in a veterinary surgery and ours charge 12.50 per microchipping, i think there are discounts for litters etc....infact we had a litter in today....4 blue cockers :) 7wks old and we chipped them and sorted the paperwork out.

Its then upto the owner to transfer the details into their name once they buy the pup it only costs 5.00 to do that and you do it via the registration form that they recieve, it couldnt be easier and is deffinatley worth it!

I have both my boys done and i wouldnt be without that little chip, it gives me piece of mind knowing that if they were handed in anywhere it wouldnt take long for them to get home to me and it only cost 12.50! :)

Call your local surgery for prices and discount info :)
