Hi, I have an a 20 mth old whippet, he was the runt of the litter and not as strong as his brother who we also have. He has had the runs from day one and I have tried every food on the market, chicken and rice and nothing worked. I bought tablets from the pet shop and he had antibiotics from the vet, these worked but only while he was having the course. On champdogs I read a post about a natural remedy called Tree Barks Powder and thought it would be worth a try. Well, halleluhah! it did the trick and we now have solid poos for the first time in his little life! Hopefully now he will put a bit of weight on (he has looked like a cruelty case), you can feed this indefinately. It is very cheap and well worth a try to anybody who has this problem with their dog.

Yes, I have used Tree Barks Powder, bought from Dorwest, I've also used Pro-Kolin as recommended on another wesbite, that worked too!
Hi,
is that the same as Slippery Elm powder ?, (which is also from the bark of a tree, I can't remember which, offhand). I've used it for the runs with success along with porridge (made with water).

Tree Bark/Slippery Elm the same.
Hi BL,
Have you tried the salmon & potato dog food - can't think of the make, but can find out for you if you like. I know it's not the same problem, but my friend's dog has got colitis, and has had the runs constantly. She's tried loads of foods, but this is the only one that is working, and the dog (who was very ribby looking), has quite quickly put weight on with it, to how she should be.

Salmon and Potato is by Wafcol. Works well for sensitive digestions!
