Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Red Mills Breeder?

Anyone here with any experience with feeding Red Mills Breeder....to either their whelping bitches or weaning puppies?

She is currently on Red Mills Pet (20% P) and she gets 150g a day (and always looks good on it). She's a fussy eater at the best of times, so i am relieved to have found a food that leaves me with 'licked clean' bowls.

i am toying with putting her on to Red Mills Breeder (27% P) in the last 3 weeks (2 weeks maybe) of her pregancy.

My question is, considering the increased protein in the Breeder, should I keep her at 150g a day, or should I be increasing the volume too.

i am conscious that she may also deliver a large litter....so i want to get the feeding right for her so that the pups aren't too large for her, but that she and the pups get the correct nutrition in the last stages of pregnancy....

Am showing both days this weekend, so I amy not be able to reply until Monday, but thanks in advnce for all helpful advice.

Regards

Caroline

Have not used Red Mills, but when my bitch had a large litter, vet suggested I used puppy version of her normal food (I use Burns) as she would have to take less volume. Certainly if your bitch is not prone to overeat, I would, certainly while she is nursing, give her as much as she will take on board.

Thanks for your reply, it makes a lot of sense!
